Incorporated in 1976, the Fairfax Bar Association is the largest local, voluntary bar association in Northern Virginia.

The FBA’s mission is to serve its members by:

  • Cultivating professional competence, collegiality and diversity;

  • Facilitating interactions between its members and members of the Bench;

  • Fostering the public’s understanding of the practice of law and the judicial system;

  • Operating a public law library; and

  • Serving as a leading voice of the legal profession.

Headquartered in the Fairfax County Courthouse, the FBA has roughly 2,200 members drawn from private practice, corporations, government agencies, legal aid organizations, the courts and law schools.

The FBA formed the Fairfax Law Foundation in 1982.  Since that time, the Fairfax Law Foundation has maintained a long standing commitment to supporting the pro bono and law related education programs of the bar and engaging lawyers in the kind of projects that improve the lives of those in our community.
