Volunteers throughout Northern Virginia demonstrate the power of giving and caring every day. To help recognize these individuals, the Fairfax Law Foundation (FLF) invites you to nominate an outstanding volunteer or organization for the 2015 Golden Gavel Awards.
Established in 2012, the Golden Gavel Awards are designed to encourage and recognize outstanding and exemplary charitable work among lawyers and the business community. Awards are presented annually to individuals that exemplify the Fairfax Law Foundation's culture of service; one that has a long history of community activism in volunteer projects to improve the quality of life in the Northern Virginia area.
If there is anyone in our community who you feels deserves to be recognized for their exceptional efforts and service, please consider submitting a nomination.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
Attorney Volunteer: Recognizes a current member in good standing of the Fairfax Bar Association who has performed acts of outstanding public service within the Northern Virginia community.
Emerging Leader Volunteer: Recognizes a Fairfax Bar Association (FBA) Young Lawyers Section member whose
community service and professionalism have enhanced his or her community. A young lawyer is defined as any active attorney member in good standing with the FBA who is under thirty-six (36) years of age OR who has been licensed to practice less than five (5) years.
Corporate Volunteer: Recognizes a business entity or member of the business community for fostering and performing outstanding community service. Its purpose is to acknowledge efforts that make a difference in the Northern Virginia community and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and non-profit worlds.
Education: Recognizes a business entity or member of the education community for fostering and performing community service.
Non-profit: Recognizes a business entity or member of the non-profit community for fostering and performing community service.
2015 Fairfax Law Foundation Volunteer of the Year: Recognizes an individual who has exhibited a long commitment to community service as a volunteer for Fairfax Law Foundation programs, and whose deeds exemplify the power of charity and generosity in Northern Virginia.

The award recipients will be recognized and celebrated on October 20, 2015 at the Golden Gavel Awards Reception hosted by the Fairfax Law Foundation.
